When a person is capable of abusing an innocent animal, it is usually because someone has been very horrible to them...it's not that they want to abuse the animal...but they feel overpowered and have no escape to let out the anger that they are feeling from the horrible abuse they themselves have endured. I don't think that they really want to abuse the animals, but do it impulsivley...and yes, they usually do move on to hurt adults...maybe not kids, because maybe they relate to their abuse, but they are very capable of being extremely dangerous...what bothers me about this, is that the people who abused THEM never get the blame..it is always the person who is reacting from the abuse they got in the first place, the cause and effect...but with the Love and forgiveness of God, and Jesus, these people can be forgiven, and have a chance at a life...all things can be forgiven, if you believe...

Do you know someone that is abusing animals? Cruelty, needing to be in control or powerful against helplessness is a very serious problem. If it is a person you know you should report this to a parent or teacher or someone you trust,as this person really needs help. I do think that someone who'd abuse animals would likely abuse children, too. Is this someone, you? It is not a natural occurance and it may be too late already, especially for the poor animals but you could save someone's life by getting the attention of someone who could do something about this abuse. Don't think that you owe anyone who'd do something like this any loyalty, turn them in now!

Very good, people start with animals, and move on to other things, mainly people. There is something seriously wrong with someone who abuses animals. It's all a power play for them. They get to feel like god or something, and they don't care about what it does to whatever it is they're abusing, because they just want to feel like they are in charge, have power, so on and so forth. If you know of someone who is doing that, call the police, because abusing animals is just the first step.

When psychologists diagnose sociopathy/psychopathy, there are three signs they look for, and one of these three is that the person tortured/abused animals when they were younger.

No 'normal', compassionate, decent person would ever hurt an animal. If you're involved with someone who is doing that, then do yourself a favour and get the hell out of there and away from them - it's a worrying sign.

Maybe not kids, but certainly will have a disposition towards violence. Torturing animals can also be a pre-lude to hurting complete strangers. A pleasure in hurting living things on an impersonal level.

that's all just liberal psycho-babble...there are a lot of good men who hunt and fish who are good fathers and great husbands...and their hunting activities would be considered by many to be abusive to animals.

i hate dogs and cats...i can't stand them near me...they stink, they lick themselves, they crap indiscriminately...and if one strays into my yard, i turn the water hose on 'em to chase 'em off...i don't do anything cruel to them, i just don't want them near me or my kids...and i NEVER abuse my kids...i am a gentle, attentive, loving father who gives my time and attention freely, joyfully.

so, one might think i am an animal abuser, because i just can't stand them...but no one could ever say that i would ever abuse my girls...

so, that old saw about the link between animal / offspring treatment is just more hyperbole from the leftists...no proof, just noise.

I honestly believe if you have no patience with animals you will have none with kids...Animals are like little kids all the time...Its good to practise with a pet before you have a kid...No don't crate train them..
