LCD is better:

Plasmas can get burn in images if you leave the same image on the screen for long, particuarly flashing images. LCD doesn't have this problem.

Plasmas have a glass front that is very reflective, especially with light in your room, and especially during dark scenes or TV or movies. LCD doesn't have this problem.

Plasmas have a fixed pixel aspect ratio, which basically means you can see the pixels, or tiny squares, that make up the picture more easily. LCD doesn't have this problem.

Plasmas use more energy and run hotter than LCD's.

Unless you need a TV bigger than 52in, LCD is better. The biggest LCD i have seen for sale is 52in. It will be more expensive than a plasma of the same size, but it is a better TV with a better picture.

Plasma has a gas to illuminate the screen. LCD means liquid crystal display.

I think the best tv for the money is a DLP screen which is backlit. The picture is very crisp and the tv is lightweight and thin.

Plasma tvs are ok if you are needing to hang your set like a picture. If you have a tv stand, etc, then a DLP will give a plasma look for much less money.

Mitsubitshi and Samsung make great tvs! Stay away from no name brands (like Vizio) which are basically disposable. Good luck!

Plasma is better, because if we use the LCD screen for a long time it will arm the eyes and we may use glasses but Plasma has no problems in that.
