When facing danger, medical illness, crazed crack dealers invading your home, etc., I'll agree to rely on the secular authorities i.e., 911, and I promise I won't cheat by praying or converting to a religion.
The Christians promise to only pray and rely on God not to dial 911 on their cell phones.
Now don't claim that this is 'testing God' because it is simply what you claim everyone does anyway, so it's either legitimate or it isn't. Or does it become illegitimate the second you actually attempt to practice it, like some bizarre religious version of the Heisenberg Indeterminacy Principle?
So which is it? Live the way you claim or.................

Father G: I get the distinct impression that you feel "Christian" is a bad word. It isn't you know, just because some claim to be Christians and then proceed to be exceedingly obnoxious does not mean that comes from God. Now, granted, I normally spend my time in another area and just came this way by accident so I don't know the climate of this forum; but -- your question is mean spirited. Not meant at all to see what the other view really thinks but to hurt their feelings and demean their positions - it is enough to send me back to my usual -k-

I gotta get this straight...if I'm the crazed crack dealer breaking into a christian home, I call 911 while they pray, right?

This is the Christian arguement...
A religious man is on top of a roof during a great flood. A man comes by in a boat and says "get in, get in!" The religous man replies, " no I have faith in God, he will grant me a miracle."
Later the water is up to his waist and another boat comes by and the guy tells him to get in again. He responds that he has faith in god and god will give him a miracle. With the water at about chest high, another boat comes to rescue him, but he turns down the offer again cause "God will grant him a miracle."
With the water at chin high, a helicopter throws down a ladder and they tell him to get in, mumbling with the water in his mouth, he again turns down the request for help for the faith of God. He arrives at the gates of heaven with broken faith and says to Peter, I thought God would grand me a miracle and I have been let down." St. Peter chuckles and responds, "I don't know what you're complaining about, we sent you three boats and a helicopter."

You're kidding, right? Do I need to bore you with the Xian story of the woman in a flood, and three times a boat came by to rescue her and she refused them, saying "God will rescue me..."???
You really don't need me to copy and paste that in here, do you?
EDIT: YOU SEE? Somebody already did it!
Not up to your usual standard there, Father G.

christians will just claim that whatever you do, god is actually doing it. god provides the police, or the gun you own, or your dog that chases them away....it doesn't matter what it is, it's from god.
Same reasoning goes with the bible. It can say whatever they want it to.
