I know that people take Gideons Bibles from hotel rooms, because I see them on sale in thrift shops all over the courntry.

Have you ever taken a Gideon's bible from a hotel room? How did you feel about it? I have often wanted to, but my conscience wouldn't let me. If you took one, did you read it or did it just gather dust on a shelf.

No, I haven't. I have a Holy Bible provided by my mother.
I used to work with a woman who's church provided the local hotels with these Bibles. She told me one time, that her church did not consider it theft, because, hopefully, the person that took it would read it & get some good out of it.
If your concience prevents you from taking one, I would suggest buying yourself a Holy Bible.

I am not a Gideon, but I believe Creatrix is correct. The Bibles are free for the taking.

You cannot steal a Gideon bible. The whole purpose of leaving them there is the hope that someone will be interested enough to take one. They are a free gift.

Actually, the Gideons WANT you to take them. That's their way of getting the word of God out.

They don't limit their Bible distribution to hotels. I got one in my college cafeteria.

No I never have. I have my own. But what a thing for someone to steal. I hope someone did read it and got saved, then it would have been worth them stealing it.

Yup, I took one.

Gave it to a unbelieving friend.
Now he's a believer!

Thankfully, I've asked for (and received) forgiveness for stealing it. And not only has His grace been sufficient for me, but for my friend as well...

No I haven't taken one, I would assume the person who took it needed it more than I did.

No, but I am sure that is WHY they put them there. You know you can always get a BIBLE if you need one.
