More to the point, Mark: who would go to a camp such as that?
It would have to be someone seriously screwed up with guilt about his or her sexuality.
Such a person would be easy prey for a "Christian" camp that offers a "cure".
I can only guess that what is offered is, in fact, a lot more guilt, along with a heavy dose of lecturing about the "wages of sin".
Likely a lot of heterosexual 'counselors' pretending to be former homosexuals (whatever it takes to convince homosexuals they can be 'cured').
And no doubt several security cameras in each room to ensure no one 'relapses'.
Essentially, all the tricks needed to brainwash people.
And how would they determine a homosexual is 'cured'? Do they offer the victim pornography or a prostitute of the opposite gender to see if the victim responds favourably? Doesn't sound very christian to me.

Mark, I am having visions of Jesus Camp in Missouri...I am really scared..:)
Well if Rachel at the Jesus Camp in Missouri can pray over a bowling ball and get it to roll straight I guess she could pray over a homosexual and get one to roll straight...so to speak..LOL! . Ok on a serious note here we go again with assumptions about what pleases and does not please God. And of course when I say God, I am not talking about a personification that is decidely male, but rather the complement of a masculine and feminine principle that you can call by any name you wish.
So what do I know about these camps, that is the question right? And really what the heck are we talking about when one uses the word "cure."? Well here is one report about a camp in good ol' Tennessee.
But first it is well documented that Reparative, or "conversion therapy" organized by some Christian church's claim that homosexuality can be "cured," and that "faith-based" approaches can do the job. Major medical and psychological organizations think that is ridiculous and potentially harmful. But since a teenager named Zach went public and described the abusive and patently bogus alleged therapy at an ex-gay boot camp in Tennessee, government agencies did take a closer look but decided to withdraw from the investigation because they found no "proof of alleged abuse".
So here is Zach's story:
His parents sent 16 year old "Zach," to Refuge, an intensive Love in Action therapy program -- apparently against his will -- after he told them he was gay. Just before going into the eight-week program, Zach wrote in his blog, "I can't help it, no, I'm not going to commit suicide, all I can think about is killing my mother and myself. It's so horrible," he wrote.
According to Love in Action's rules, posted on Zach's blog, clients must report sexual fantasies to the staff. The program specifies the exact length of haircuts and how many times men must shave each week (seven). Love in Action bars jewelry and clothing by Abercrombie and Fitch. The rules prohibit "campy gay/lesbian behavior and talk." New clients are not allowed to talk to or make eye contact with anyone for the first three days. Clients have to wear pajamas to bed and if they get too cozy they "must always have exactly one person between them." Clients cannot keep a diary, and all their belongings are searched every morning by the "Chain of Command." All secular media, including music and movies, are forbidden. Also, during counseling -- no "disgusting" faces.
What I like of course is the intervention name: Love in Action. I will never cease to be amazed.

If you think that you are born homosexual, then you have inherited ancestral sin. This sin can be passed down to four generations. The ancestral sin must be denounced and you must repent of your sins also and then God can heal you.
A curse, without a cause, does not come. This is Scriptural.
Homosexuality is a sin curse and you can be delivered from it. It is no different than the curse of nicotene from smoking cigarettes because the family smoked. The curse of pornography because your dad had magazines or movies. The curse of suicide because the spirit of death came into the family by way of a father committing suicide or killing people.
These camp leaders know the Word of God and if the homosexual wants to be changed, the Great Physician, Almighty God can change them by way of deliverance.
Proverbs 26:2
As the bird by wandering,
as the swallow by flying,
so the curse causeless shall not come.
Even Jesus asked the afflicted, "Do you want to be healed?"
Not all - want to be healed or changed.

These camps have been around for quite a while, I do not know what goes on there but I can tell you, people can't be 'cured' of what they are born as and are.

Since homosexuality is not a disease, it does not need a cure. I think these camps actually teach good and safe sex techniques. Ted haggard provides the professional instructors and accessories. So I have heard. I did not attend yet.

The best cure for homosexuality is to prey for the memory of when the person first made the choice from an influence. Often children forget making this choice and it often will influence them as they grow. This is why so many think they was born gay. Children forget. Some may have been so young they will never remember.

I have seen documentaries on this - they do a brain-washing indoctrination type thing - as any cult would do. I would be interested to see how these tortured souls are still doing 20 years down the road. You can teach a chicken to play the piano but that won't make it be liberace.

Ok Check it Out!
I could be mistaken and admittedly I don't know to which camp you refer. Does the camp actually use the word "cure?" Any orthodox Christian knows that no one (human) can cure another human being of any condition---only Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ can actually cure us. People who are open to the works of the Holy Spirit who are exposed to the bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ are often "cured" of human afflictions---cancer, addictions, depression, etc.... Healing is by no means the works of man however.
