alright, let me help you since I'm pagan. Tell your parents and be prepared with answers and facts about the religion so you can squash any misconceptions immediately. most Christians do not know what paganism is really about so you and your wife must educate them. this is not a problem in your marriage, paganism is beautiful. let your wife know that sometimes it's a lot of fun to educate others on our religion. I hope this helps you. by the way, I'm curious, did you have a christian wedding and a hand fasting? or did you go un religious?

Okay, I have experience with this one. I became Pagan over time, so I was already known of some superficial levels.

I don't rattle cages, only little tidbits, here and there. There is no need in me to be understood by them. My husband told his family once, that my life is my business and I can do what I want. I don't think they speak to much with him anymore about what to them is simply "me not going to church"

The fact that they seem to like me better now as a pagan over when I was Christian has not escaped my notice as they are calling more directly instead of going through my husband. I value that relationship, and that is from where I give. So, they have learned to adapt and appreciate.

Very carefully! By pagan, do you mean she is into witchcraft (wiccan) or is she a satanist? How do YOU feel about her "religion"? Have you embraced paganism as well? How strong of a Christian are you? Do you accept her beliefs yourself? Do you want her to become a Christian? How are your children being taught about religion? As a Christian, we are not to judge other people, but we are supposed to model an example of Christianity for others and gently lead them to Jesus. Depending on your family's faith, and if you feel it necessary to tell them about your wife's decision to become pagan, I would hope that they would learn about her beliefs and why she believes the way she does without condeming her.

If you decide to tell your Christian family, be prepared to tell them in depth exactly what she believes and why. They may ask what it is about Christianity that she does not believe. Hopefully, a dialogue can be opened so they can all understand one another. You may be forced to choose between your wife and your family. My sister, a devout Christian, has a pagan daughter-in-law. She is a witch with her own coven etc., though at other times in her life she was Church of Christ and then LDS. So, personally, I think she is just seeking connection to God and is just exploring other belief systems. A lot of times when people search out different belief systems, it is because they want to live their own life the way the want -- not the way the Bible teaches and without the consequences of the choices they make.

My prayers are with you and your wife, that she may come to know the love of Jesus and the sacrifice of His life so that all of our sins can be washed away. I truly pray that she has a spiritual awakening that will open her eyes to Jesus.

Oh now that’s a hard one! But from personal experience, you have to stand by your wife; don’t hide her beliefs because even though she believes different then your family does not make her beliefs any less important. Now that you are married she has to come before your family and as hard as it is you have to be willing to put your foot down for her. I have been in your shoes and it is very hard to take your spouses side over your families, but that is your wife, she has to first. Don’t offend your family or alienate them but let them know that thins is who you love, this is who you want to be with and if they cannot accept it then it will be their loss. Religion makes for some touchy family merging, but if your family loves you they will put everything else aside.

This is really your wife's decision. Is this something that she wants them to know? Someones faith can be a very personal thing and if you don't have her blessing to say anything I wouldn't. You would hate for her to be alienated because of it. On the other hand, if you have her blessing then just come out and tell them. Hopefully she has you backing her and if you don't follow her faith at least respect her in having the courage to follow a path that she believes in.

Maybe leave some literature about your wife's beliefs for them to review. Since it is clear that the majority of Christians have no idea what her particular beliefs may entail, a quick lesson may help. They may be less freaked out if they know she's not going to sacrifice their cat.

"My wife is a pagan." There really isn't any other way-just come right out with it. If they already like her, I doubt it will make them all that upset.

Why do you have to tell your family? My husband's family doesn't know I'm pagan.

you need tot ell them as soon as possible out of respect for your family and your soon to be wife. They will learn how to deal with it and if they can't that means they are even more brain washed by their organized religion than is healthy for society. You can be an amazing person ad be of a different religion that is the beauty of this country. honesty is the best policy.
