dear all,

i have two jobs at almost the same time,
i understand that i have to pay basic rate for second job ( 22%)
which one should be taxed 22% ?
if for example : first job only 2500 / year and second job 8000 / year
should i tell the employer or taxman saying the 2500 / year job is my second job ? or do i need to say the other around ?
if the second ob is taxed 22% - i would be unhappy
thanks for your advice

You are Taxed on your total income = 2 jobs or 10 jobs is irrelevant at the he end of the Tax year, HOWEVER how they take the Tax during the year can effect your monthly income.

My understanding is that your Personal Allowance will be offset against one job (so that gets a tax Code of 53L or whatever) whilst the other gets a Tax Code of 0.

Plainly it makes sense to offset the Personal Allowance against the higher paying job ... (so you don't pay too much Tax).

If you offset your Personal Allowance against the lower paying Job you will pay no Tax at all on that Job (since £2500 is less than your Personal Allowance which should be about £5300).

However the higher paying Job all be Taxed at 22% (because the allowance is 0). In fact the balance of the alowance (£5300 - £2500 = £2800) should be allowed against the higher paying job.

At the end of the tax year you will need to fill in a Tax Retrurn and you will get a rebate ...
