This is my daughters name, & I was told it means intention in arabic, something to do with prayer, is that correct?

Yes you are right.

The word in Arabic (نية) pronounce as ‘Niyyah” means intent, mind, thought, animus etc in English.

Not correct.
This is not an Arabic name,and has no relation to prayer,the nearest Arabic word is niah,means swinging,swaying:نـيـاح

so when the letter came together ,it is written like:
نياه
or
نياح
but I dont know about its meaning
