It moisturises the skin/lips/wherever you put it, thus keeping the oil levels up/reducing the level of dryness. When the skin is moisturised it is more elastic, so does not respond so much to age/wrinkles Think about it, if you pull something and it is elastic, it will bounce right back to its original form, but if it is hard and dry it will break and stay where you pulled it.

Vaseline is far from "choice" for skin care. Petrolatum products are well known for causing dryness even though they feel good when applied. This is why people are so addicted to their lip products that contain petroleum - the more they apply, the dryer their lips become so they apply more because it feels good for the moment.
I know, I have been a lip gloss addict and have now switched to products that don't contain much if any petrolatum. It takes a long time to get used to not using them.

i wouldn't recommend vaseline for wrinkles on the face.
it's better used on cracked dry heels and elbows.
it works by trapping the mositure in your skin...and because of it's thickness...no moisture escapes from your skin..it almost forms a seal..which is why it is not good for your face.
other moisturizers act as humectants and attract water to the skin..swelling the skin..and that's how wrinkles magically disappear.

I find Vaseline rather to heavy for your face, maybe a little dab of olive oil (just a little tiny dab) and keep your Vaseline for your feet
