The first Christian churches were held in peoples houses. What do you think about a church that Praises Jesus, worships and thanks Jesus in singing and worshiping and giving glory to Jesus that will be ushering in the Holy Spirit.Having no preacher, but letting the Holy Spirit speak through the congregation. So who ever the Holy Spirit chooses to speak through a word of knowledge or whatever the Holy Spirit wants it will be done God's way so man is submissive to God,In another words cut out the middle man that has formed his set of guidelines.,rules regulations and time Many churches worship and try to impress the pastor instead of giving all the glory to God.,.

House and cell churches are alive and flourishing. It is not a new kind of church. Some traditional churches have changed to sponsor and become a central meeting place for house churches in their communities. It is what the Christian life is meant to be... alive, Spirit-filled, Spirit-led, lived out in simple, authentic community. There is sharing, caring, love and friendship.. where everyone matters and has something to contribute. They become close spiritual families, where our children see Christan ethics lived out within the group and in our reaching out to others in the surrounding community.
Your question, and some of the answers, address leadership concerns. God always is the main leader. Those gifted will rise up, and the Spirit will testify and confirm those who should be in the position to lead and teach. In a sense, we all are called to do this. Our group is affiliated with a "traditional" church, whose pastor is there for guidance and questions. He also leads a monthly "praise and worship" service where the groups come together. We look forward to these powerful, Spirit-filled meetings. We are also free to change groups, or start new ones. It is a Spirit-led and joyful lifestyle.

While it is possible to worship without a pastor, there are some dangers which you may not have considered.
You put forth in your description what sounds like many positives, and they are, however, there are downsides also.
You apparently believe that with a pastor it is impossible to be submissive to God. Why is that?
The role of a pastor encompasses many things, one BIG one is to keep the members THEOLOGICALLY STRAIGHT. Without some oversight, heresies can be introduced.
A church without some guidelines sounds like there would be problems eventually, and where would your decency and order go to?
Timothy, Paul, others have pastored churches...is what you are suggesting equal to saying that their working as pastors was unneeded, that they had been "middlemen?"
Think about it.

I would go part way with you. I love the idea of not spending a lot of money on church buildings, but holding the meetings in homes. That's the way the Amish do it, without spending a fortune on facilities.
But as for anybody speaking whenever they think the spirit moves them, I disagree. Worship meetings need order. Again, I'll refer to Amish meetings. There is not one pastor for each community. Instead, there is a group of Elders. At meetings, one of the Elders speaks/teaches/leads for a while, then another. Worship is not centered on a person, so you do get a bit closer to what you're proposing, but very ordered.

The church was established by God and it is talked about in Acts. Too many people have their eyes on the 'pastor' and NOT on God but that doesn't mean that we should not try to follow what God has set in place. There are reasons for the five branches of church government.
