why is this and how can i get rid of it? does anybody else experience this?

your pillow could be causing this problem, and if you are not laying on your back that will definitely cause your shoulder pain.

I recommend you see a chiropractor who could advise you about the correct pillow or even your bed, and sleeping positions. Also a chiropractor can take care of the pain and have you feeling better after the first visit. I've enclosed a link where you can find one in your area.

as a pharmacist i say there are many reason for your problem but 2 are very important:
1-you lay down in bad position that harm your shoulders
2-where u lay down is not suit able
in any case as i am far from you the best way to visit an orthoped:thx zarzar24

You could get a new bed. You could get a massage. My number one recommendation would be to go see a chiropractor. They will tell you what is wrong with you and then fix you up.

go take a warm bath. get some type of balm and rub the knots out of your shoulders.
