You should be able to get Sky as long as the dish can be aimed at the sky. I don't recommend Sky though. It crashes and freezes a lot, even in areas with good reception. I would try Virgin media out if you don't like Sky. But it doesn't have some of Sky's chanels.
I've had Sky+ for a few years now and it's not as great as everyone makes it out to be. My friends have it too and they need to get their Sky boxes fixed every once in awhile because it keeps crashing.

Can you see the sky at 26 - 28 degrees South? If there are trees and buildings in the way you will not get a signal. Elevation (height above the horizon) needs to be about 22 degrees. Poor terrestrial reception has nothing to do with Sky digital, you just need line-of-sight to the satellite in the sky.

We have poor reception for ordinary tv and most phone networks and radio. But sky is ok.

If your house is within the Sky satellite footprint and at least part of your house has a clear view of the sky (i.e. you are not in a basement flat), then there is no reason why you shouldn't get Sky. It comes through a dish, not an aerial.

Why not check with the people at Sky by phoning them and they will tell you how much it will cost each month.
You could also look in Yell for local companies who do satellite installations. They will tell you whether a dish would make any difference and how much it would be etc.

All you need is clear sky (no trees, walls, buildings) whatsoever that will block the Receiver's signal. They usually install Sattelite Receiver pointing to the east.

If there's a building to your east and its blocking your way, have the building demolished.

Just kidding LOL

Jeez, we don't know where you live! Ask your neighbors about their experience with Sky, and call Sky tech support and tell them your problems and ask for an opinion! Or, in the alternative, post here your name, address, telephone number, and email address!!! ;-)

sounds technical too me. I would have thought you could get the sky wherever you live, unless you live underground or on a ground floor flat with no windows?
