I was educated within the Catholic school system and unfortunately same as you needed time to heal from the horror and find my own understanding and grounding with life away from the bigotry and hate that this religion teaches and disguises by its blown out of proportion stories. This religon and many others have so much to answer for, there have been many that have not been able to move on without so much scaring and to those my heart goes out to them (we all know what I am saying here). Love and Understanding to these people.....

I went to a public school up until high school & even though I am a Christian I was NOT raised
Catholic, the only thing that I did NOT think was right was that the French teacher made me learn
the Hail Mary prayer & I do NOT believe in praying to anyone, but God .
Other than that I loved the school & it did me NO harm.

I spent all of my school life in Catholic Education, as did all 7 of my brothers and sisters, and can tell you that I found it equal to anything out there. There was never anything that I would call out of order, and both of the schools were progressive, well resourced and staffed with dedicated, caring staff.
So much so that my children also attended Catholic Primary School, and then Public High School. I didn't send them to Catholic Secondary School as I couldn't afford to have three kids there at the same time and wouldn't send one over the others.
I've heard the horror stories too, but that was far from the case in my own experience and that of my children.

My Mother was, and once she graduated she never went back to a Catholic school or church again. One of the nuns called her a tramp for no reason when she was really young, and she hated going ever since. That doesn't sound like something a nun should say to a young girl, if you ask me.

Yes I was educated in a Catholic school and I loved school! I had an Italian nun who'd tell me about her childhood in Sicily and I'd be soooo engrossed because I wanted to travel so badly. My school taught me about kindness and compassion and these values stayed with me for life. If given a choice, I'd send my children to a Catholic school too.

Yes, but I'm healed though.
I no longer believe in the Catholic Church, which has protected a certain priest for 15 years.
