You miss the whole point. In spite of all adversities, Job continued to praise God. This is a story of complete trust in God. God restores to Job more than he lost through adversity towards the end of the story.I guess if you want tobe pessimistic, you can ALWAYS use the negative spin to sway people your way.

The story of Job is the story of the whole world, of every righteous person, and of Jesus himself.
There are certain rules that pertain to the things of this world, and one of them is that God gave man dominion over all the earth.
Man foolishly gave that dominion to Satan, and he then became subject to Satan's every whim.
God permitted it, for a while, because man has free will, and is free even to make big, big, mistakes.
But once a truly righteous man simply decided to place his trust firmly in God alone, no matter what, Satan was through.
God the Father allowed Satan to do his worst to his son Jesus, even unto an excruciatingly painful passion and death, because he knew that it would result in both Satan's own destruction, and the redemption of mankind.
By the way, Job is based on a real person, but it is not the actual account of anyone's life ... merely a story ... with a moral.

What I have found somewhat troubling is that while Job's original family is killed, replacing it is supposed to make it all better. What about the individuality of the original family?
But more to the literary point: Job, throughout the body of the book, insists that he has been unjustly treated. The "comforters" insist that no man can be just (using arguments that seem similar to those who insist on salvation through faith alone).
However, in the concluding chapters, God says that Job is right and the "comforters" are wrong.

I completely disagree with you. While it is a horrible thing that happened to Job, it was to prove once and for all that God does have faithful follows not matter what might happen to them. Just like us, you can say that God is also in judgment. The devil is waiting for Him to mess up. He is waiting for God to be leanent with just one person. The devil knows that if He is then He would have to take the devil back to heaven also. I know that in the end God will win. I know that the devil knows that God will win. But for some reason the devil is still trying to win anyway. Maybe the devil won't be able to take everyone with him, but he will take as many people as he can. The world needs to know that if we stay faithful to Him that God will reward us. What happened to Job after all the bad things that happened to him. He got back 10 times more than he had. And I have not doubt that even though he lost his first family he will meet them in heaven one day.

Look, from the beginning, Satan had been saying that humans didn't need God, that they could know what was right and wrong in their eyes etc. He rebelled against God's authority right, taking with him the human race. God however was not convinced that humans were beyond help. He showed Satan with proof, that not All humans would rebel against him. Job actually pleaded the human plight in front of millions of angels, God and Satan, and won. God allowed Job to suffer yes, but gave him back ten fold what he had lost. Because of Satan, sin entered the world and with it Death. But because of God, giving us a chance to proove ourselves, life will enter the world once more. Job will see his family again, rest assured.

The point in this is that Job was faithfull to God, despite everything that Satan was doing to Him ! That is a proof that we people can obay God no matter what.
Read the book of Job again. But READ, dont try to find something that we can laugh about !

You obviously haven't read the end. Job lived 140 years and God fixed it in the end. I wish he would do that for me.
