1) When do we use fuse and fuse resistor?

2) I have a circuit where fuse is used at ac, after rectified, it uses fuse resistor. does this mean that fuse is for ac, and fuse resistor is for dc?

3) How do I determine the value of fuse resistor?

it has been a long time since i have seen a fused resistor in electronic application. basically it is a normal resistor made so that it will fail open (like a fuse) when its ratings are exceeded. the fused resistor is better than a slow blow in circuits that can short because the resistive part will act as a current limiter, thus softening the effect of the short back stream (ie transformers and diodes). The ones i dealt with were on the order of 10 ohms, and 10 watts which by ohms law makes it a 1 amp "fuse".
