If you tell an official bill collector that you are dead, this information could be passed to official agencies such as those you deal with for drivers license, Social Security, passport etc. and you will face immense difficulties later trying to correct the "error". Information is passed frequently between official organizations as a means of minimizing fraud and deception

What you should is write a letter to your collectors that they may not contact you by phone anymore and can only contact you by the mail...have that letter notarized and the calls will stop. You can learn much more at http://www.thecreditrepairmanual.com

Best of luck,

Pravda is correct.....just send them a letter telling them to quit calling, and if they keep pestering you file a lawsuit against them. Please read the Fair Debt Collections Act and learn your rights.

jimobasa, you are silly. What do you think I would do to a creditor who posted such information on my credit report? No documentation, no proof...just a vague rumor?

I would OWN that credit agency!

Just pay the DARN bill!

Pay 50% of the bill as payment in full.

Do something instead of dodging YOUR responsibility for not paying your debts.

In other words, MAN UP!

Go for it - what harm can it do? "Oh, poor Johnny... he died in a car accident on Monday!"

Short of that - you might consider getting a digital call-blocking machine. I have one to fend off sales calls, and LOVE it.
