I wonder whether we can say the word “Exempted” for mappusakshi?

Wait for sometime, hope you will get an appropriate word.

Literally the word Maappu-sakshi means a pardoned-witness for the prosecution. Maappu means forgiveness or pardon. Sakshi means witness. In legal proceedings a Maappusakshi gets a plea bargain of being forgiven (or a lesser than deserving sentence) for cooperating with the prosecution to nail others involved in a complex crime that needs insider information to fully unravel the conspiracy or mystery.

As far as I know there is no equivalent word. I will write the meaning so that some one else can suggest the right answer :

Mappusakshi : An accused who cuts a plea bargain for a lesser sentence in exchange for testifying as a prosecution's witness.

'Pleading Witness' should have been the right word. Let us start using that word.
