My daughter is 4 and I still give her some drinks in a sippy cup to protect myself and my home from spilling--for example her water at night goes in a sippy cup. I wouldn't worry about it at 18 months, gradually she will become interested in doing things like bigger people do and will want to use an open cup. Then you will miss the sippy cups, believe me.

Do what you feel is right. I personally think she is fine with a sippy cup at that age as it helps prevent spills. Give her drinks from your cup with something like milk or juice in it so she can see that it ok to drink from a regular cup but don't force her to give up a sippy cup as those can be used by toddlers for a long time. You may want to buy some that don't have handles if you want her to look more grown up so to speak but there is no need to get rid of the cup with a lid on it.

I think it is perfectly fine for her to still have a sippy cup. It's the easiest way for them to carry around a drink and not make a mess. Maybe when you're siting down for meals you could give her a regular cup or even one with a straw just so she gets used to controling a regular cup and since you're at the table you can help her out and avoid a mess.

I've never heard of a child that age that doesn't use a sippy cup. I have four kids and a niece and nefew and they all (except for the one that's too little for one) used sippy cups till age four. IN fact, my nefew used it a little longer. But seriously, there's nothing wrong with that. It would be a problem if she was still using a baby bottle, but since she's not don't worry about it.

my son is almost two and he still drinks out of a sippy cup, its just bc they are not coordinated enough at this age to be able to handle a regular cup, you are the one who knows your child best and you know what she needs, if you want her to start using a regular cup just start introducing it to her gradually, its gonna take patience and lots of paper towels, on another note, she shouldnt be drinking anything at night except water, if shes holding the cup in her mouth while shes falling asleep that is what causes baby bottle tooth decay, good luck.

My son had a sippy until he turned 2. I would be worried about her getting too attached to it, perhaps limit it to the kitchen area.

And what do YOU say? You are the child's parent are you not? Your daugther is only 18 months old, she isn't ready for a regular glass unless you're prepared to constantly clean up the spills.
