Of all the bases overseas, which ones are remote bases? I know that Korea is one of them but are there anymore? I just want to be overseas 12 months and be able to pick my base of preference afterwards.

It all depends on your career field. Not every job is available at every base. Hubby's choices for remote were Iceland and Korea, now just Korea. Check with your orderly room. They should be able to find out which ones are available to you and help you fill out your dream sheet. And remember.... you are not GUARANTEED your BOP. I've met quite a few people, hubby included, who didn't get what they asked for. Needs of the AF come first, your needs come second!

BOP is not guaranteed, believe me. I did my year at Thule, Greenland (this was right AFTER I came home from Desert Storm). My BOP was RAF Alconbury in the UK - 7 days from PCS, they cancelled my assignment, and I ended up at Cannon AFB, NM (which, at the time, had recently been voted the worst base in the entire Air Force). So don't hold your breath.

i became stationed at Ramstein AB, Kaiserslautern, Germany. I enjoyed it! Unfortunatly, that's the biggest concentration of people exterior of the U. S.. yet you will immerse your self in the lifestyle, and you dont ought to sense homesick with each and all the individuals and ammenities. they have surprising commissaries (one among ramstein and one among Vogelweh, that is approximately 6 miles away), BX/PXs, power Zones, backyard centers and the suitable exterior sport courses. considering there are a lot of militia in the section, it is common to flow to college on any of the militia bases (military or AF). that's the only place I easily have been that has Ammo.

The Azores...Guam is kind of a remote and Honduras are the only ones I can think of...I did four years at Hickam in Hawaii, you should try for that, it was the best time of my life
