With all the so-called christians out there; why are there still poor people. (See: Mark Chapter 10 vs. 17-25).

It's sad, but true: Almost every christian I know is about the LEAST christian in reality. It's the 'not perfect, just forgiven' attitude at it's most disgusting.
Your question?: There are poor people because there are RICH people. Not only in the yin/yang light/dark logic, but also because of the fact that 2% of the population controls 98% of the $. Is sad but true that money buys money, and power corrupts, and the more of either one gets, the more greedy they tend to become.

because most of them were born into a poor family & never really had a chance...
the others become poor because of wrong choices & unforeseen events...
(i don't see how the number of christians would have anything to do with the number of poor people...)

i am just assuming here that you are reading this with the idea that ALL christians should sell ALL their earthly possessions & give them to the poor.
and in so doing the poor will NOT be poor anymore...
but then ALL christians would then become poor themselves
(remember they gave ALL that they have) and the sad thing is that there might not be alot of people out there that would give them anything.
and so we STILL have poor people... and most of the poor people that have been given free wealth might just end up misusing them and becoming poor again (easy come, easy go).
and now we end up with a lot more poor people (poor in earthly possessions that is)... which is probably not the idea of this passage.

Abusive governments, taxes, poor choices, the way it goes with some people. Some people just don't get the breaks, and some people make the choice to be poor.
About Mark 10, that was said to that person personally. It isn't something that everyone who wants to follow Jesus has to do. That guy had to, Jesus answered that man truthfully.

Well some people who claim to be Christians choose to lie and steal to make others poor.
Proof - Let's start with when his dad (George Sr) was in office with Reagan, Neil (one of his brothers) director of Silverado Savings and Loan in 1985, Jeb - his other brother - running a "business" in Florida, and George Jr - Owner of Texas Rangers.

That's a gr8 question!!! Why, because some/a lot of people haven't got it yet. There are people out in this world who have enough money to supply the worlds poverty needs over and over again!!
It says in Gods word " Luke 12;48 NIV
For everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
We "all" need to be living in the promise and grace of Gods will for all men b4 the worlds poverty issues are dealt with.

Most people are only physically poor but not in spirit. They are poor because of external factors.
