Self-defense is not murder, and not a sin. There is nothing to forgive.

Christians continue to sin after they are saved – we will not be free from sin until we die or Jesus comes back. However, becoming a Christian results in a changed life (2 Corinthians 5:17). A person will go from producing the acts of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21) to producing the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). This change does not happen instantly, but it does happen over time. If a person does not demonstrate a changed life, they are likely not a genuine believer. Christians can commit grievous sins. History is filled with Christians (or those who claim to be Christians) committing terrible crimes, even murder. Jesus died for these sins as well. All the more reason not to commit them!

In a hypothetical situation (and I'm only saying this in a hypothetical situation), technically you can murder someone and still be able to enter heaven. Just as long as you repent for your sins, you are able to go to heaven.

In the Old Testament, it's written that an eye for an eye, so if someone did wrong to you, you can do the same amount of wrong to them.

So even if you did murder somebody in cold blood, not even in murder, you're fine, as long as you're sorry for what you did, and you get absolved before you die.

Ironic isn't it?

Oh yes. The blood of Christ washes away the sins of men.
Self-defense is not murder.God knows that we live in a world of sin, and so some people will want harm and destroy. Why will you not protect the ones you love and your life?

I know the real problem comes with persecution. But in most of these cases, you cannot really self-defend.

killing someone in self defense is not murder now is it? Hence the commandment which is more readily translated from its original Hebrew, "Thou shalt not murder!"

Some people mistakenly translate it to "Thou shalt not kill." And that is wrong, because God has made provision for self defense.

That being said, we know from David's account where he purposely sent his adulterous lover's husband to the front lines of battle so he would die (This was a selfish attempt to murder, which worked), David ultimately repented and God forgave him. ---Note: David also suffered horrible consequences owing to that. Though God forgave him, God also let him reap what he had sown.

Does it matter? What difference will it make to the murdered person? Or the murder. I shouldn't waste time on what a God might think.

THE LORD SAID "THOU SHALL NOT KILL!!!!"
If you truly come to Jesus and ask for forgiveness, true forgiveness for any sin committed, all sin no matter what it is, whether it be lieing to whatever, is sin, and sin is sin on any level!.
If you truly humble yourself before your God and ask him to forgive you, then he will and that sin will no longer ever be remembered. Why, because it was taken up on the cross with the Christ. Jesus personally took you and every sin you have ever committed up on the cross to be crucified so that you could have eternal life with him in heaven.
That's the grace and mercy of your father in heaven, and that's what people don't understand!!.
