All the same taxes are taken out EXCEPT the state income tax. So federal income withholding, unemployment, disability, social security, etc are still taken out

There are no "tax free states" in the US. A few states don't have an income tax so if you live in one of those states you won't pay any state income tax to the state. But you'll ALWAYS pay Federal income taxes regardless of where you live.

In the US, federal taxes are taken out no matter what state you live in.
State taxes aren't taken out if the state has no income tax.

"Tax Free State" means that you probably shouldn't have any state taxes deducted.
But ...
That doesn't mean that there aren't local / muncipal, county, and/or federal taxes taken out. It also doesn't mean that they are deducting FICA (social security) from your check. Some states even have a tax for Medicare/Medicade.
