We went to Hawaii (Ohua and Maui) .... it was great, but 1 week might be too short. The first day you get there is pretty much a waste due to jet lag, and it takes you about 2 days to get used to the time change.
Plus you'd probably want to see at least 2 islands if you go... since the cost is high.
But if you do decide to go....
We loved Waikiki ... it was great, prices weren't outrageous (food, drinks, etc...) lots to do - lots of fun (nightlife, beach).
Maui was nice, but more expensive, and much quieter. Probably better for a family vacation, or if you want to relax...
oh yeah - don't remember any mosqitos on Waikiki, but we got bit frequently on Maui.

A trip to Hawaii would be lovely. From where you live it's about a nine hour flight, so a little long. Or you could go to Florida or Las Vegas. All of these places are very different, so one might appeal to you. The cost is much less than traveling to a different country, and far away enough to feel like you are somewhere completely new. And trust me, Hawaii is part of America, but unlike anyother state in the US.

Italy, and particularly Tuscany it's a fantastic place to honeymoon, with the color of the autumn. The best activities in Tuscany (as in the entire Italy), degustation of wine, visit city (like Florence, Rome the best in the world, Venice, Milan, Naples, and shopping. The weather if you're fortunate, are still good, with a sunny day and good and don't hot temperature. If you never been over seas you can take an airplane and fly to Milan or Rome international airport. And if you don't speak any italian (it's a fantastic languages...) don't worry. Also with a basic Italian we understand. Good marriage

I am getting married this summer and my husband-to-be and I are going to San Francisco for our honeymoon (we are also going to travel to Yosemite and spend some time in the wine country). If you want something a little closer to home, I would consider going up to Canada. Quebec is quite lovely and Quebec City, in particular, has a very European feel to it (it is kind of like going to France, without the long flight and jet lag).

Why not come to Canada?? Have you been to Montreal? Great culture, fantastic little restaurants, and you don't need to speak French. Toronto maybe? Great upscale shopping, theatre, music? Alberta is a further plane ride ut Banff, Jasper and Waterton are fantastic resorts and have much to offer if you like the outdoors. Have fun whatever you do!

My daughter went to Martinique & loved it. They went horse back riding on the beach, sailing on a huge oat that took them to a private island, laying on beach, shopping with locals around island, even a casino (won $350 & lost $300 + $50 win). She has been trying to talk her Dad & I into going there. They had no complaints & short plane ride for you.

The Caribbean. Go to a resort that is all inclusive. It makes for a much more relaxing vacation when you don't have to worry about paying your bar tab at the end of the night or paying for dinner, snacks, etc.
