The more that you read it, the more you will understand. I don't have any problem getting a message from the word. The reason it was writen in the fashion that it was is due to King James- he translated it to fit the spoken language of that era. It has been adapted as such and accepted. Though, there are many alternatives these days - the NIV (New International Version) or there are many other texts. I cannot recall all the assorted transcripts. They all (as long as it is the actual BIBLE) hold the same or similar message.
Look at your local Christian Book store. They can help you find one more simply worded. Much luck. God bless.

The bible is an encyclopedia from God. You can't understand it all at once. You have to study and learn some of the simpler things first and build on them. Understanding comes as knowledge grows. Usually the key to a scripture over here is found in another part of the bible. The basic love is God is very simply and clearly laid out in the Gospels. Think of them as God's love letter to man. True understanding only comes from God, and most of it comes from His word.

That's a great question. Part of God's plan was to primarily speak to us through men chosen as prophets who then wrote things down or had others write them down. Understanding can be greatly improved by studying the culture of the people who wrote the various books found in the Bible.
Another way to better understand is to have access to other prophetic writings such as found in the Book of Mormon. It's a record of God's dealings with people who lived on the American continent between 2000 B.C. and 400 A.D. This book helps clarify many of the teachings in the Bible.
In addition, having access to living prophets today is a big help.
In brief, the reason for what sometimes seems like confusing text is to force us to struggle with the problem of distinguishing the truth. This helps us to truly understand as opposed to just following what someone says. For example, it's one thing to be told not to lie, but understanding comes when you experience what happens when someone you trust violates that trust.
I recommend you consider the purpose of life as described by the web site below. If you'll consider it with an open mind, you'll sense the truth of it. God has given us a conscience that helps us sense right from wrong.

So that only those with the proper heart condition and direction of holy spirit can find the answers--rather than those who would exploit the truth for their own glory and profit. The way it is now, if someone tells you something about God and you REALLY want to know, you can research the Bible and get direction from God's people and you can prove it true or false for yourself. If you don't care enough to go directly to God's word and check for yourself, you will continue along the road to destruction with the majority of others who are teaching falsely (the blind guide leading the blind). Next time you want to read the Bible, first pray for God's holy spirit to guide and direct you. Ask for this in the name of Jesus Christ. Ask God to help you to find his true followers. Ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. You will be amazed at the response you get by doing things in this way.

It should be noted that none of the complete Biblical texts survived last long after the Apostles were killed. This is why the Nicean Council met. They were told to gather all the remaining fragments of the scriptures and get the religion back in order. They did the best they could, but the entirety of Jesus' gospel was lost. We were left with pieces. This is why we have so many denominations today.

I have a large collection of Bibles. No one can verify anything written in a Bible because there is not enough physical or written historical evidence to prove all the statements and "rules" supposedly made by Jesus or his mother before him, are actually accurate or even their words. The gospels are an anthology of memoirs written by...or for apostles. Paul, wrote many things to aggrandize Paul and sell his product.
Reading the "Lost Books of the Bible" and the "Apocrypha's" does clear some things, but actually makes the contradictions worse.

The Holy Spirit indwells the Christian and this is one of His main purposes.....to reveal the meaning of the scriptures. But, like the first answer, the more you study the Bible, the easier it is to understand.......thus, God wants us to seek Him, show some effort. There will always be some things we don't understand, but, rest assured, what God wants you to know, He will reveal it to you.

Read the proper version. Read The Supreme Bible of God, rather than some inferior copy.
See:
http://one-faith-of-god.org/final_testament/bible_of_god.htm
Unfortunately, so many have been duped into believing that inferior versions of the Bible are the word of God. This has never been the case. Now, thanks to the internet, people can read the whole book and its source texts to see for themselves.
Without them, reading an inferior Bible is a little bit like trying to make a book out of new highlights- it may be interesting, but doesn't make sense...

good question. It deserves a drink of some sort. You support ancient Catholics who thought the idea of putting the bible into the hands of the common man was a grave error.

It is hard sometimes and I find myself going between the NIV and KJV alot to help understand. However, the more you read it and the more you ask God to reveal His word to you, its a whole different experience.
