I'm looking for a small SUV with all wheel drive. I'm a 19 year old college student, so I don't need one for a family or anything. Also, I would rather have something that tends to be more girl-ish, than guy-ish, if that makes sense. It's not a must though. I really know nothing about cars, so any info you can give would really help me out! Thanks!

I have had my Toyota Rav 4 for 10 years - still running beautifully! I'm finally looking into new cars and passing my Rav on to a family member. I've test driven a number of them. Honda Element was a lot of fun to drive and you can get a good AWD model under $20k. Jeep Compass was a lot of fun as well, and the mileage was better (about the same price). The only thing I'm not looking right now is the new Rav, as they bumped the price up about $6k. I think I've narrowed it down to the Mercury Mariner at this point.

Hi Laura!
Try the Honda element. It's a safe car that gets great gas mileage and NEVER needs service. It also resells very well so when you want to trade it in later you'll be smiling from ear to ear. It is so cute and very modern looking and fun. It doesn't hurt that it just won the very prestigious "Best Small SUV" award. You can't go wrong with a Honda. (Toyotas are a good second choice)

Also try the Honda pilot. It has a different look and is as good.

Dodge Nitro is a very good choice. I could not believe the head room in them. I am just over 6ft and around 290lbs. It has several items that you just do not find in some of the foreign cars for around the same price. Besides Dodge quality is very good and getting better all the time, with a decent warranty

Hey, my daughter owns a scion XB she loves it's good gas mileage & easy to park and take care of. I think she received her first (3) oil changes for free .this comes for scion, she's done all the girl things to it and after (2) yrs. everything is fine even with the parking on campus. But no (4) wheel drive, it came with all the power goods and she can plug in her Ipod to the radio. Good Luck
