I found my 2 year 11 month old humping her elmo doll,His legs were actually spread. I have NEVER had sex in front of my child(ren) and my kids never watch things like that on the television. I spoke with my friend ( she is a daycare teacher of kids my daughters age) She said that it was normal and I shouldnt be concerned. Being a mother I am....What do you think?

Its totally normal...my son does the same thing when he goes to sleep. I thought it was kind of weird the first time I saw him doing it but I asked his Dr. and he said it was ok. Then he asked me if he was ever rocked to sleep when he was an infant and I said "yes"... the Dr. told me thats why he was doing it. Not to get pleasure out of it (because they don't understand what that is yet) but to get comfort. When I stoped rocking my son to sleep he found a new way to help him relax. I guess thats what he likes. Don't get worried over this I have never had sex in front of my child either...its just something every kid does at some point.

No it is not normal..ANd she had to see it somewere. A friend at daycare or something.I would be very concerned!!! I have 4 kids and my little girl just turned 3. i would FREEK out if I seen that. Not freek were she new I was concerned but I would ask her about it and make sure that nothing is going on that you need to know about, I would also ask her Dr to talk with her and look and make sure she was not being hurt in any way. What dose she call it when she dose that?I would ask a million Q's. But NO it is not normal and if the other kids are doing that at the daycare than I would want to know EXACTLY were it was comming from. That is YOUR child, its up to you to ask the Q's and Get the answers that will protect her!

What Jenn said was right 2or 3 above my answer, but when the dolls legs are spred I would be alittle for conserned because that shows more of a sexul act...dose that make sence?

I would talk to the child about it. don't belittle her but ask her in a very curious and interested voice what she was doin' and listen to her. it may be something that she discovered on her own. it is normal for kids at that age to discover things that feel good down there and it is not at all sexual.

make sure that she knows what touches are not okay. is there another care giver? It is so important to talk with your children about Private area and let your children know that they can talk to you. many parents don't talk with their children about touches that are not okay because it is awkward but that puts the child in a dangerous situation.
I say this because i experienced inapproiate touches as a child and i was afraid to tell my mom. I know there are so many other people who have gone through the same.
just listen to what your child has to say and be aware of anything else that is odd.
It's good that you are concerned .

Yea, I'd be concerned, your day school teacher is an idiot, your daughter most likely saw it at the school, I'd look for another day care provider. At such a youg age children are susceptable to everything in their enviroment and it can and does lead to abnormal behavior in adults, you'll notice that alot of people don't have any manners or a sence of whats right or wrong or whats acceptable or un-acceptable in their everyday lives. I'd stop her from doing that and make it clear it's inappropriate, it's almost impossable to explain things to a child so young, but I'd make it clear to her that it not right. get another opinion from a professional, make it a priority to teach her right from wrong, if not now, you'll have more trouble later!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, in my opinion I would be concerned. I have 3 children and 3 grand-children and never have I seen this. A child that age is acting out something they have seen or something that might have happened to them. if the child hasn't witnessed you having sex then is there anyone else she might have seen?... as for your friend, well.... never mind, but this is NOT NORMAL!

I wouldn't be too concerned about it. At this age kids are learning about their "private" parts and noticing the sensation when they touch them. It's NOTHING sexual. It's just a new thing that they have realized about their bodies. I hope I have been helpful in your search for an answer and good luck!

Your friend is right. It's perfectly normal for her to do that at her age. When she begins to understand you better, you might want to explain to her that a lot of things are pleasurable with our bodies but that there are appropriate places (private places) in which to explore them. If she's doing this in the middle of the living room while company is over, that's when I would try to explain to her that it's not for everyone's eyes to see.

Also, when she does begin to understand private vs public behavior, you also need to tell her that adults should not want to watch her engage in them or help her engage in them. Nor should an adult want to see her without her clothes on unless she is sick, hurt, or needs their help (like after a bath or using the bathroom). This will help her distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate behavior with adults and help her protect herself against those who would abuse her.
Best of luck!
Peace,
Jenn

My sister used to do that when she was real little with a teddy bear of hers. She is now a healthy 34 year old, so I am assuming no harm done. My parents used to laugh about it.

Some kids do do this, but I would talk to her anyway and ask her if anyone has ever touched her in her swimsuit area. I would also talk to a dr. and have her checked, just in case.
