Hm.... the Ten Commandments....

1) No other Gods before me... OK, I can see how some would disagree with that, but to call it dangerous?... So many wars have started because some believe one way and others believe another.. One world-wide religion could prevent a lot of wars, death, sorrow.

2) No praying to graven images... Again, what's dangerous about this?

3) No taking God's name in vain- no swearing or vulgarity... hey, wouldn't it be kinda nice....

4) Keep the Sabbath day holy, and it comes with a promise of prosperity. Sorry, not seeing the danger, only a promise of prosperity... if everyone had enough to meet their needs- consider the possibilities!

5) Honor your parents. Dangerous? What's dangerous about being respectful to those who are older and wiser?

6) Don't kill. ROFL!!

7) Don't commit adultery. How much sorrow and sadness is caused by infidelity?... dangerous to advise people to avoid that behavior and prevent that sorrow??

8) Don't steal. Again-- ROFL!!

9) Don't lie. LMAO...

10) Don't covet. ROFL- LMAO....

OOooooo- dangerous- if we post them somewhere, someone may just read them... and they may live by them... and life could be better... yeah, dangerous....

I could wish!

The Ten Commandments are a code of morality dating back to approximately 1250 B.C.E., enumerated differently by the various religious bodies which use them and having a different format in Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 (The two places they're found in the Bible). As laws they have been enforced chiefly with the most extreme punishments over these several thousand years, naturally engendering fear and inspiring hatred, as well as the miscarriage of justice resulting from poor understanding and translation of ancient language and concepts. Moses did not come down from Mt. Sinai with a Torah scroll over his arm, but with two tablets of stone containing all of ten words written thereon by the finger of God. There is an awful lot we don't really understand and have added to by human traditions largely made up of our own prejudices; people believing they can make up God's mind. Tiny minds occupying such a great throne are always dangerous.

I have never heard this statement nor do I believe they are
dangerous, If in fact you and/or "people" feel the ten commandments are dangerous then something is very wrong with their lives as well as yours, the ten commandments are meant as a fundamental obligation of religion and morality based upon scripture references and by no means should anyone belive they are dangerous.

Theyre not dangerous, just created for a specific religion therefore should not be imposed on those of other religion. As for the arguement that the ten commandments boast good values, frankly they boast obvious values. Dont murder, dont steal, dont commit adultery.. every mentally fit human being knows these are good values so why do we need to post "ten commandments" that also contain religiously biased values that include worshiping only the christian god?

I don't have the impression that the majority of Christians think so, still I know that many think the Ten Commandments were abolished at the Cross. The main reason for this, I think, is that they are afraid of the Sabbath command, as it says that it is the seventh day (Saturday) that is God's holy day, and Christianity mostly has Sunday as a holy day (for which there is no support in the Bible.)

Don't know anyone who feels that they are dangerous. I think you might be making a logical jump here.

What is dangerous is posting these in public, tax-payer supported, government facilities. It is a direct violation of the Establishment Clause of the Constitution. It says to anyone in that facility that the government values those beliefs over all others, and that is a problem in a country that values freedom of religion.

The Commandments themselves say wonderful things that most should follow as basic guidelines in life.

I think most people have no desire to follow a standard "set of rules". I think if we look back at the history of some countries, we will find that they were founded on believing in God and the Commandments. That was the intention..to have a nation that would bed free from so much hatred etc..however, humans being as fallable as they are, began to rebel..and now we have so many who decided for themselves that they did not want that way of life and broke away into their own way of life..now we have such diversity in beliefs or non beliefs that some want to continue as society was originally meant to be..however it never can be that way again and we all have to get along.
We have to be mindful of not forcing things on each other..not only christians but non believers. To be honest, the non believers have most things falling their way in laws etc...and the christians haven't asked for much yet have to put up with a lot.
Now we have many muslims wanting things their way in a lot of things..exceptions etc etc etc...
It is time this world came to an end..although I have a strong feeling it will be way worse before long.

I don't know anyone who thinks that. But I will tell you that the danger is that people think that they can live by them. Jesus told us that that is wrong. Just hating makes us guilty of the sin of murder.

We are not supposed to live by the Ten Commandments, which were put there to remind us that we are sinners, guilty of not only violating the Ten Commandments but all the other commandments that number 613. We simply cannot uphold them as to our perfection.

That SHOULD chase us to Jesus, who could fulfill the Law. We come to him because we know we cannot live perfectly according to his law. And he in turn brings us peace with God, no longer a recipient of God's wrath.

They were written in stone and if you don't follow them God will SMOKE your ***. That is if you believe that, for some people with a sence of dignity they would know that anyone who says the Ten Commandments are dangerous is spewing out bullshit. For example when they had the 10 commandments in front of that court and they had to take them down cause of the separation of church and state. Rebel against the commandments! Thou shalt not steal thy neighbors ***!
