Get the phone and smash the **** out of it in front of all of them. Then thrash the piss out of the kid!!!!!!! I know, I know, " you can't do that", bullshit youcan't! It's not about what you do, it's A, how you do it and B, what you tell the men when it's all over. If you conduct yourself as a proffessional, don't get any entertainment out of it and teach a leasson at the end by talking to your guys, you can short of kill people and make everone say you did the right thing.

I'd find him (pretty easy when they're all lined up), take the phone out of his pocket and answer it very politely "Hello. No, he can't come to the phone right now. I'm about to rip his balls off for gear adrift in his uniform at morning inspection!" His day would then go downhill from there...

In today's navy I'd have to ask 'em nicely not to carry a cell phone. Then we'd all sing Kumbaya.
When I went in back in 1975 they'd have smashed it into 100 pieces and made us dig a grave 6 feet deep for each piece.

Right now, one electronic device is allowed to be carried. Just talked to a 1SG who returned from Iraq and one of his guys had a cell phone in her pocket. They were getting ready to raid a house and the phone went off. 1SG Joe grabbed the phone and broke it. He got his hand slapped and was told to replace the phone. Crazy!
