I have hearing loss in both ears, my right is worse then my left. I have a very hard time understanding conversation when I plug my right ear. Does this mean that I am deaf in my right ear? My biggest fear is going deaf. My hearing loss was caused by medication that the doctors gave me when I was born premature. I am only eighteen years old; do I have to worry that I am going to go deaf in my lifetime?

You can get a hearing test at a clinic. They will be able to tell you which portion of your hearing is impared and give you tips to prevent further loss. Best wishes.

Have you been to an ear doctor recently? If not, I would suggest that you go for a hearing test and complete exam to determine the degree of hearing loss. There are many procedures that can be done to improve the condition, or at least keep it from getting worse. Hearing aids are another option. I would strongly suggest that you see an audiologist or an otolaryngologist. The problem may not be as bad as you think, since there are many causes for hearing loss that can be dramatically improved by the proper treatment. Good luck!

NO,IDON'T THINK YOU WILL GO DEAF. I DO THINK YOU NEED TO SEE A DR. THOUGH BECAUSE WORRYING ABOUT SOMETHING ALL THE TIME CAN BRING ON A WHOLE NEW SET OF MEDICAL PROBLEMS SUCH AS ANXIETY. I KNOW BECAUSE I HAD A PROBLEM A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO WHAT I DIDN'T KNOW, IS THAT I WAS MAKING IT SO MUCH MORE WORSE BY WORRYING ABOUT IT INSTEAD OF JUST SEEING THE DR.FOR IT. GOOD LUCK!
