The Catholic Church doesn't fight battles. It just keeps teaching the fullness of truth throughout the world and across the centuries, just as Christ said it would. The thousands of unauthorized manmade churches of course each have doctrinal battles with the One True Church, since they do not teach the fullness of truth. But so what? They also have doctrinal battles with one another. Some even take the ludicrous position that the Catholic Church's teaching does not agree with the Bible, in spite of the fact that none of the manmade churches can agree on what the Bible actually says; and in spite of the fact that the Catholic Church compiled the Bible in the first place, for its own use, and obviously did not include in its book anything that was in conflict with its own teaching.

I think the debate is over who has the authority to act in the name of God. The Catholic Church indisputably has a history that goes back to the near the time of Christ and we all know there are problems with the doctrine according to the Bible. Problem is, who made the evangilicals God? Literally, who appointed them? Of course they have an answer that doesn't really work with the doctrines of the Bible either, so there you have the conflict. Who's right?

I don't see a battle. Actually Catholics and many evangelicals share a lot in belief. Evangelicals should not necessarily be confused with Fundamentalists.

I heard a definition of a Fundamentalist is someone who takes the Bible literally sometimes.

Perhaps doctrinal battles, but the real battles of warfare are fought over territories, not religion.

There really is no conflict, we simply do not believe in or recognize any evangelist religion, we see them as nothing more than religious greed for wealth scams that rob people of their hard earned money, may God have mercy on their souls.
