Does God "rule" or does he "guide"?
Many say that he guides but then every other argument seems to prove that he "rules" people's lives.

Conx....my brain tells me that there is no God, but I am NOT close-minded.
Even my brain realizes that just because we haven't proven something doesn't meant hat it doesn't exist.

Conx (again), I have to say, that you give all Atheists a bad name with your attitude. Thanks. I don't believe in God but I wouldn't want to put myself in the same group as you.

I think there's a little of both happening...
Here's an analogy that I've used...
Life is a game- When you open a new game, there's all the pieces, maybe there's dice or cards, or even a board... and there's the directions!... The directions start with spelling out the objective of the game- get the most tokens, or move your pieces to some specified place on the board, or whatever... There's rules- how the game procedes, and sometimes there's even tips and hints on how to win.
Same thing happens in reality- there's a board (the planet), there's chance (dice), there's even other kinds of pieces (other people). There's also the directions (Bible? other holy writings?). My experience is that the objective is to find lasting happiness. God has even given us guidelines and hints on how to acheive this in the most effective way.
The rules can't be changed. Reality happens, and there's not much we can do to change it. The only thing we can change is how we choose to play- whether we choose to use God's hints and tips (follow His commandments) to obtain our own deep, lasting happiness.
It may seem counter-intuitive that submitting to another's will can bring freedom, but when that other person is God, it's true. He desires our freedom- but we must develop a God-like character to be able to do that... and I really think that's what His commandments are all about.
Yes, He rules- He designed the game, laid out how it would all work. He also set up how the hints, tips and suggestions would work.
Yes, He guides- that's where our choice comes in. He's told us what to do, how to do it, but we can still choose to follow His advice (laws?) and "win the game" or choose to not follow... It's all up to us.

I think both. He rules over the Universe and in the affairs of his created.
But His Holy Spirit that is in the world, is guiding and teaching us about the truths and revelations of God as written in the Holy Bible.
Remember He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords

Both. He rules in our heart as Lord, but His Holy Spirit guides in order not to interupt our free will to choose.
Colossians 3:15
Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
John 16:13
“When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
As for whether or not there is or is not a living God...

God is Master of all and whether He rules or guides is probably a matter of opinion--I choose to think He guides us, He DID make us with free will, so we can do what we please, but I think He has a hand in everything we do--Some may think it is ruling us, others guiding us..

God's will is done in Heaven.
In the Lord's prayer the words "Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven" is wherein a Christian asks for God's will to be done on earth.
This tells us that God's will is not being done on earth.
Ultimately it is God's will that humans have free will. Many things keep a person from truly having free will.
Many humans try to do God's will on earth to the best of their understanding..
