Unless you have a provable work injury do not go near Workcover they do keep records of your injuries and in the future if you get any type of injury in relation to that arm they will fight you on the basis you already had an arm injury of say %10 which would cost you %10 of any future payout.Lets asy you were awarded $20000 for a lost part of your arm less %10 is an amount of $ 2000~~

We call it Workers Compensation here in the US. I would think that receiving work cover benefits would be something covered by the Privacy Act, if you have anything like that. Like one of the other posters said, check with your HR people and ask if Work Cover Benefits information is shared with other employers SHOULD you ever change jobs. Or get an application, and see what all the small print says. It's a shame that you have to be fearful about such things if you got a legitimate on-the-job injury, and the expenses sure are real, but it doesn't take much to get a bad work record. You'll have to decide if you think this is something that will impair your ability to work later on.

not knowing where you live, and your working laws,i am talking about my experience's in the US. i was hurt at work and i have had 3 surgeries in the past year. if i go back to work at a new job,i must be honest and tell them about my past problems.i cannot file a claim against this new co. for 7 years.and legally they can't not hire me because of my injuries.you should get your injury on file,so that if you have problems with it in the future,it will be the company where you hurt yourself who will be responsible for the biggest percentage of medical care and compensation.new employers know this, and it should not be held against you.i hope you find employers with integrity. good luck to you.

ellane, you are not in USA? Here they can't ask about such things -while it is true if the new employer knows they may not hire you. but I filed a workmen's comp and after surgeries took a lump sum settlement and it has not effected my ability to get another job. And when you get all grown up in this country the only "permanent record" we have is with the police. Good Luck -k-

well if you legimately hurt your arm and shoulder at work, then yes you should claim it. It will go on your record for that company. they arent' allowed to tell anyone that info unless you give them specific permission to do so.

Not to mention the way you are treated, wish I never had to deal with them, but I do, doesn't matter about the future, I can't work anymore anyway. Good luck.
