I have gone tanning a few times over the past week or so. A few days after the last session I started to get a little sore on the left side of my buttocks by my tailbone. It is HOT and now the size of a silver dollar with a few white areas in the middle. Could this be Staph? Or am I just being paranoid? These beds are not properly sanitized. They are using baby wipes! I have attached a link to the photos. Serious answers are greatly appreciated.

To me it looks like impetigo but whether it is, impetigo or staph, you need to be treated for it. So go to the doctor. It also sounds like cellulitis with it having fever in it and all. This is nothing to play around with. Please let me know what they say.

I've got bad news for you; it looks like a classic case of herpes. Blisters are present, not pus. It has the angry red border and feels hot. I don't think impetigo woud be so painful and hot.
Call a lawyer; I'd sue the s*it out of those negligent fools that own the place. BABY WIPES??? PUHLEEZE!!! I'd also report them to the health department and the appropriate licensing board. If you are indeed a nurse, or a nursing student, shame on you for not avoiding a place with such poor infection control!!!

I'm not trying to scare you, but my daughter-in-law said she got herpes from an unclean tanning bed. I don't know if that's true or possible, but they sure should be using something different than baby wipes. I went to a tanning salon for many years and thankfully never picked up anything. They sprayed something on the beds and wipes them down well between uses.

Yes, it looks like staph but it could also be herpes (shingles). It looks like the beginning of shingles. How long before it started to get all the puss on it? You need to go to the doctor NOW. Either way, it is going to spread and a doctor needs to look at it.

If they are not properly sanitized I wouldn't get in them. That definitely needs to be seen by a doctor. It could be some kind of fungus or something.
