1st of all, do not listen to what the people on this website has just told you. I got waves all throughout my hair and I know just about everything there is to know about waves so i'm telling you that people on this site do not know what they are talking about when it come to black mens' waves. If you want to go to a site with product reviews and waving info go click this link http://360waves.net/forums/index.php?sho...
360waves.net is full of people dedicated to waves. You can ask any questions you want and they have pinned information posts to teach you all the basics. Just know that you don't need gels/pomades to get waves. They are only good for making your waves look better by weighing your hair down and giving it a nice shine. The only thing that will make your hair wave up is brushing a lot. A wave is just a laid down curl so when you brush you change the texture of your hair and you train it to grow down. Pomades just help to make your waves look better by weighing down your hair. Believe me. I used to have really nappy bad hair but now im spinnin like crazy and it's all due to brushing my hair 45-60 minutes a day. If you want your waves to spin around your whole head and have them connected so that they look like circles brush starting from the crown making your way towards the hairline. The sides should be brushed in a slant. Using moisturizers also helps. Be sure to put a doo-rag on after putting in products and before you sleep to protect your pattern. It will take a couple of weeks to get results and it will take months to be spinnin with deep waves.
If you want to cheat and use a texturizing kit just know that it could really mess your hair up by making it too straight or possibly make your hair fall out at an early age. If you use it right the results should be instant and it cost no more than $4 but the waves aren't going to look exactly the same as it would if you took the time to brush and get your waves spinnin the natural way and they leave after about a week.. You can find an s-curl texturizing kit in just about any store in the beauty section.

I don't know about the fastest way, but the best way is to braid damp hair, but a curler in the end and wait for it to dry. It's not fast, but it is very effective.

Murray's grease, a wave cap and brushing your hair 10 times a day. That's what my husband did.
