Over the summer we may have to move from Jersey to Maryland. I am going to be 16 the end of June, and we will be moving after my 16th Birthday. I know in Jersey you can get your permit after completing drivers ed (which I have done already) and doing your 6-hours after you turn 16, but I don't know about Maryland. Is there a separate driver's ed course I'd have to take? The course I took had no behind the wheel training, just classroom instruction and I took and passed the written test. Would I have to take another test and pretty much throw out the Drivers Ed I took here, or would I be able to transfer that over to Maryland or what?

as with most states i suspect you will have to follow marylands laws for student drivers by passing the written test at their DMV if you have already had the drivers course classroom time it may be sufficient for maryland or they may require more classroom time.you can go to your search and type in... maryland department of motor vehicles and there should be an anwser in there for the requirements for liscensing or a phone number to call them for information.

I would say you will have to re-test. I think everybody who moves to another state has to, just to learn the laws of the new state.
