You have to peal and devain them leave the tail on though. When the meat turns white and the tail is pretty and pink you are ready to eat. no longer than 5-10 min though.

The length of time to cook prawns on a grill depends on a number of variables:

The size of the pawns - big ones will take longer than small ones.

The kind of grill you are using - Charcoal, Gas or Electric. And how hot the grill actually is when the prawns are put on it to cook.

The temperature of the prawns when they are put on to cook. Ice cold prawns will take longer too cook than those at room temperature.

The important thing is to determine WHEN they are cooked and NOT how long they have been grilling.

If you're using peeled and deveined prawns, place them on water soaked wooden skewers. This makes them easier to handle and attractive to serve.

Prawns cook very, very quickly and in fact will continue cooking even after they are removed from the grill. So be careful. Turn them as soon as they start to change colour.

Watch for the prawns to change from translucent to opaque and for the colour to change to pink or orange. It is better to under-cook than to over-cook. as they can always be returned to the grill with no harm done.

Avoid overcooking. Overdone prawns are rubbery, tough and taste terrible. Prawns are costly but their flavour is worth the expense. So they deserve very special attention.

Good Luck.

If the prawns are as I suspect already pink then all you have to do is defrost them you could try and use a microwave but its normally better to let them defrost at room Temperature! As for cooking raw you just need to gently simmer them in water DO NOT ADD SALT as they should be salty enough. Take one pan of fresh water bring up to the point were is just about to boil then carefully place the RAW that is to say nearly transparent prawns in it. Then watch carefully as soon as they turn pink remove from the water and allow to cool naturally you do NOT NEED TO SHOCK the prawn in cold water at all this will cause the flesh to toughen up just like they will go if over cooked.
