Bound's hubby here:

Just a little info on the 9mm Walther P38 Kurz (not Kurt) that you may dinf interesting: http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg68-e.htm .

The best source I am aware of for wartime P38 s would be Mitchel Mausers at: http://www.mauser.org/ .

Good luck!

Are you sure you are not thinking about a PPK?

Walther introduced three different sized pistols during the 1930's. The PP, or Polezi Pistolen, a medium sized pistol chambered for .32 ACP or .380 ACP (aka 9mm Kurz) issued to uniformed policemen. The PPK, or Polezi Pistolen Kriminale, this was the small pocket sized pistol issued to plain clothes detectives or the Criminal Police Bureau. It was also quite popular with the Gestapo, and most everyone else able to acquire one. PPK's have at various times been available in .22 LR, .25 ACP, .32 ACP, and .380 ACP.

The P-38 was a full-sized service pistol chambered in 9 mm Parabellum.

Go to an on-line firearms auction site (such as Auction Arms, Guns American, or Gun Broker.Com) and search for Walther PP, PPK, and P-38. You will be able to see photos of the different models and decide which you want.

Isn't that a snub-nosed P-38 .9mm, that is, the Walther P-38 Kurtz with a 2" barrel? Used to be you could order an optional 2" inch barrel for the P-38 but now I don't know, with all the importation restrictions. Good luck.
