Are we under that same law today or is there anything in the new testament that states otherwise?
If there is anything in the new testament about it, what scripture is it so i can look it up?
Thanks.

Mark 7:14 Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. 15Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean.' "

17After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18"Are you so dull?" he asked. "Don't you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him 'unclean'? 19For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean.")

20He went on: "What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.' 21For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.' "

Acts 10:9 About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. 10He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. 13Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."
14"Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean."

15The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."

16This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

And even tho the Lord has declared all things clean, I still refrain from pork and shellfish. I dont really care for pork and I dont like any kind of sea food

Great question! Made me go out and look for an answer. And here is what I found.

Eating Foods. The Old Testament dietary laws were given by God to the nation of Israel for two reasons. Those who are interested the Mosaic dietary laws are listed in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14. The only reason given in the Old Testament for the dietary laws was to separate the Israelites from the nations around them.

You are therefore to make a distinction between the clean animal and the unclean, and between the unclean bird and the clean; and you shall not make yourselves detestable by animal or by bird or by anything that creeps on the ground, which I have separated for you as unclean. Thus you are to be holy to Me, for I the LORD am holy; and I have set you apart from the peoples to be Mine. (NASB) Leviticus 20:25-26

But now there are no rules against what we can eat.
But food will not commend us to God; we are neither the worse if we do not eat, nor the better if we do eat. (NASB) 1 Corinthians 8:8

This does not mean we can drink poison nor can we be gluttons. The dietary laws were made obsolete by the New Covenant, but God had to speak to Peter in a dream before he would accept the fact that there was a change.

No, we are not under the same law today. In Acts 10 and 11, Peter has a vision, of all these unclean foods coming down from heaven. The Lord speaks to him in the vision and says "Go Peter, eat!" Peter refuses, saying he has never eaten anything unclean. Then the Lord tells Peter not to call something unclean that He has made clean.

Jesus seperated the Old from the New. The ancient dietary laws no longer apply

God put the Hebrew's dietary laws in place to protect them. He preserved them as a nation by mandating these things. As an example, that they not eat pork (we now know it has to be cooked to a certain temperature or it can be dangerous), not touch dead bodies (disease, germs, etc) and so on.

We know look at these things as His wisdom towards them.

St Paul answers this claim the best in that he says: (Colossians 2:16-17) "From now onwards, NEVER LET ANYONE ELSE DECIDE what should eat or drink, OR WHETHER YOU ARE TO OBSERVE ANNUAL FESTIVALS, NEW MOONS OR SABBATHS, THESE WERE ONLY PALE REFLECTIONS OF WHAT WAS COMING:THE Reality is CHRIST" In other words, Paul is saying let no one call the Christians to task for what they ate or drank or IN REGARD TO FESTIVALS: NEW MOONS (the thing of the pagans) and SABBATHS (Jews). Note also that the festival, new moon (2 kings 4:23) , and Sabbaths are references to the yearly, monthly, and weekly observances of the Mosaic calendar. Therefore the whole Jewish festal calendar is no longer binding and this includes the Sabbath's of the Old Law. Thus St. Paul rebukes the idea of reverting back to Jewish customs and observance of feast days of the Mosaic calendar as if they were still binding (Galatians 4:9-11). Today those who object to Sunday worship also place themselves under St. Paul's harsh words of condemnation

In reading the above text from St. Paul clearly one cannot say that the doing away with only applies for New moons but rather "New moons or Sabbaths". This is also because when the Old Covenant completed its usefulness and passed away so did the signs. Circumcision is no longer an obligation (Galatians 5:2). Honoring the seventh day of the week is also no longer binding. Saint Paul states that the legal demands of the Old Covenant are canceled and explicitly mentions the Sabbath as one of these (Colossians 2:14).

Religionists of the Jewish faith continue to follow the Mosaic Law as outlined in the Old Testament. Christians, however, believe that the Christ fulfilled the Mosaic Law because of his Messianic status. With that said, there is no prohibition to eating any kind of domesticated meat.

The previous answers have outlined the exact biblical locations you can refer to in supporting the Christian view. Carrying this a step further, the LDS Church refrains from eating wild animals unless it is absolutely necessary to sustain life. We do not view hunting as a sport, but as a necessity.

Naturally, civil laws prohibit the eating of the bald eagle, the California Condor, and other wild species. They probably all taste like chicken anyway.

The OT prohibition against pork was based on 3000+ year-old health conditions. They didn't have the capacity to properly sanitize pig enclosures, and they made no connection between poor sanitation and disease, attributing it instead to spirits and gods. Undercooked pork, raised in unclean conditions, can result in infection with trichinosis, which causes painful muscle cysts. Modern pork production is carried out in much cleaner conditions. Pork is cooked with much more control, and with the awareness of proper temperatures, which didn't exist 3000 years ago. With the exception of the Third World, trichinosis is practically unheard of in modern society.

I'll take an order of ribs, please.

Included are three scriptures. Sufficient I believe.
In Tim. look at verses 2-4.

The Holy Bible shows clearly that Christians are not restricted from eating any animal as long as they do not eat strangled ones or the blood of the animal. This last point confuses many. What is meant by not eating blood is that the animal is bleed according to custom.

Once the traditional bleeding has let out whatever blood may flow naturally from the animal, the animal may be eaten with thanksgiving.

It should be mentioned that a search in the Bible also shows that Christians may buy their meat at the market without undue worry to procedure. Of course, many fowl are easily identified as strangled and if so should be avoided.

1 Timothy 4:1-5 1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. (KJV)

Acts 10:10-15 .10And being hungry, he was desirous to taste somewhat. And as they were preparing, there came upon him an ecstasy of mind. 11And he saw the heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending, as it were a great linen sheet let down by the four corners from heaven to the earth: 12Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts, and creeping things of the earth, and fowls of the air. 13And there came a voice to him: Arise, Peter; kill and eat. 14But Peter said: Far be it from me; for I never did eat any thing that is common and unclean. 15And the voice spoke to him again the second time: That which God hath cleansed, do not thou call common. (DRC)

Acts 15:19-20 19For which cause I judge that they, who from among the Gentiles are converted to God, are not to be disquieted. 20But that we write unto them, that they refrain themselves from the pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood. (DRC)

The health laws still apply for today.A pig doesnt have any sweat glands,so toxins build up in its body. Also we arent supposed to eat bottom feeders or scavengers like shrimp, lobster, catfish, etc. They eat dead and diseased flesh from the bottom of the ocean.
