Sometimes when i bend my left knee it hurts on the bottom. About once a week, it jams and I fall on the floor, unable to move because it hurts so badly. When this happens, it takes like 4 minutes to unjam and hurts all the way. I dont know what happened, as I am only 13. I have only hurt my leg once, when I was 8, because I fell out of my window. My mom (who used to be a nurse) said that I would have started expieriencing pain earlier then 13 if it had to do with falling out of my window. I dont know what to do, do you have any ideas of what is up with my knee? I have stress related problems, like bruxism (i grind my teeth in my sleep) but I dont know if that is related. Thank you.

Sometimes it takes years for pain to manifest from a previous injury. With your knee locking up and extreme pain it definitely indicates something is wrong. You probably need physical therapy on your knee, this will help stop the jamming and reduce the pain. You have to see your medical doctor and go over all of your symptoms including grinding your teeth with your doctor.

Your a big lad so 2oolbs is not too bad, ok lets get to the knee, I doubt very much that its a thrombosis as if it were the area would be quite hot to the touch and also there would be more swelling in the leg and ankle. My first instinct when i started reading your life history was the Bakers Cyst although these are extremely painful and even bending the knee brings tears to your eyes. In the crease of the knee at the back there is a natural bulge which everyone has some more pronounced than others but always visiblewhen standing upright. Maybe like you said you should get your AR** from out that computer chair and start looking at your new life by doing some exercises but as you are so unfit dont go doing anything stupid like a 5 mile run LOL seriously friend take things slowly but build up each day once your fitness improves your motivation in your everyday life improves and if the P.C. is too much of a distraction sell it! Good Luck for the future and dont worry about dvt its probably lack of movement

You may not have done that much damage to you knee when you were 8, but there is a possibility that over the years you may have put more and more strain on it, causing more damage.
It is most likely NOT related to bruxism in any way.
I would definately talk to your doctor about this.
Tell your mom that it's getting worse and that it's worrying you, and ask if you could call your doctor and ask if you need to come in.
In the mean time, try to carry as LITTLE as possible.
Do you carry a lot of books, or a really heavy purse or bookbag?
If so, THAY may be one of the biggest perpetuating factors.
I had the knee jamming problem (but not so much pain) halfway through my freshman year of HS, and once I stopped carying 45 pounds of crap around for 8 hours a day, the pain and jamming subsided quite a bit.
It may also be a neurological thing. There may not be something wrong with the knee itself, but with the nerves leading to it.
Ask your doctor if ibuprofin (Advil) or Naproxem (Aleve) would be a good idea to take.
Call your doctor, and ask if they could take a look at it, K?
Good luck hon!

At what floor did you fall out the window? It a good thing that you are not injured more seriously. I know people who still experience post traumatic pain several years after their injuries and accidents because the body are still in the state of the injuries. And if there are more traumas to the area (in your case, falling on the same knee once a week), then the injured area will not be able to heal itself.
It could also be a hormonal problem (since you are 13 and expericence stress) as well as a digestive problem that could cause an assimilation problem leading to malnourishment to your muscles, joints, fascia, ligaments. Therefore the joints and ligaments are laxed so they cannot hold your weight properly, so give up on you.
They could be other things too such as bone spurs, arthritis, etc.... Best is to see a medical doctor and have a full check up including Xray and scans. Good luck

I always answer people' knee questions on here as I just had my 13th surgery so I am a seasoned knee injury veteran. And I will tell you what I tell everyone else. See an orthopedic (bone and joint) doctor. He/she will discuss your symptoms with you and take xrays and an mri scan. The xrays will probably show nothing, but the mri will give you your answers. The knee is a very complicated joint with 4 main ligaments and tons of cartilage including the meniscus. People on yahoo answers will give you their best guess and say "I had the same thing!" but you will never know without getting images of your knee taken. I am very knowledgeable on the subject, but I wouldn't begin to tell you what is going on without looking at images of your knee. So please, see a doctor and get it checked out....the earlier the better....you do not want to be like me and have 13 surgeries and huge scars...trust me. Good luck to you.

It could be a lot of different things. Make an appointment with the doctor so they can do tests to find out what is wrong with it. Don't play the guessing game.

It sounds like your cartlidge is popping out of place. I don't the medical term but my husbands used to do it and he would fall to the fall in horrible pain until he could pop it back in place. It was a football injury!! So go to the doc. and find out. If that isn't it than something is. So go on and find out. Good luck

Ask your mom if you can see a doctor who specializes in orthopedics to have it diagnosed. Best to try to nip the problem in the bud. Don't just hope you'll outgrow the problem.

don't worry because it can't be a disease. it might be because the blood in your knee is acting up or something.
