Only if you are a nurse, inner city or special education teacher, or join the National Guard for a period of up to 5 years. It does not work if you have consolidated your student loans though. There are progams that will pay a portion of your student loans for volunteer work from known organizations such as Americorps, VISTA, and the Peace Corps. However, it is a lot of volunteer hours in one year to get some money off of your student loans. Consolidating your student loans can help ease your budget some. Upromise can help with 4 payments a year based on what you have spent. I will include some readings on the programs I have mentioned. Good luck!

I haven't heard of any grants that help pay off student loans, but there are loan consolidation companies such as Sallie Mae. Also, if you graduate in certain fields, there are sometimes programs that forgive at least some of your loans in exchange for employment or service in a certain field (such as teaching in certain economically depressed areas). Check with your lender or your financial aid office.
