I notice that if I drink water immediately after that then the pain will go away… Please help. So do I need to see my doctor or what?

Yea, I think it's sternum because it is below my throat.

To Lover of Jehovah and Jesus: I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. You also amazed me because you work hard to raise your kids, yet/and still remain faithful to Jehovah. Stay strong, sis!

Sounds like acid reflux...does it sometimes feel like a dull pressure on your sternum? If you notice it more as you lay down, it's another vote for acid reflux (heartburn).
If so, yogurt and bananas seem to help if you don't want to take antacids. Avoid sugary foods. Also, don't eat too close to bedtime. If your doctor concludes it is acid reflux, see if you can avoid taking medication for it if you can remedy it with diet.
Asthma would cause more of a wheezing and shortness of breath when you breathe.

Asthma is an allergy and is triggered by something. The best non medication treatment for asthma is learning your triggers and avoiding them. Common triggers are smoke, dust, mold, mildew, plants, dust mites, pets and grass/weeds.
If you can not figure our your triggers, you may need to see an allergist and have allergy screening done. This may point out your triggers.
The National Asthma Prevention Program and the Expert Panel of Diagnosis and Management of Asthma both agree if you have to use a prescription inhaler such as albuterol more then two time per week, your asthma is NOT in control and you will need a prescription controller medication.
Controller medications are steroids (Asthmacort Asthmanex, Flovent, Pulmocort), Leukotriene modifier (Singulair, Aculade, Zyflo) or mast cell stabilizers (Cromolyn sodium, Intal, Tilade).
You may want to talk to your doctor about several strong controller medications and maybe Xolair shots.
If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.

I have asthma, and I have difficulty breathing, not necessarily a pain in my chest, unless I am having a full blown attack. A drink of water does not relieve it as I have to take 4 different medications to get relief. Your pain may be some type of digestive problem. And yes, you can have chest pains from stomach problems.

Well, asthma usually comes with breathing problems, rather than chest pain. It can be just heartburn, or indigestion, but if you are worried, I do suggest going to see a doctor, even if it is just a check-up.

Where in your chest is the pain? Is it near your sternum? Is it is more towards your heart? Is it below your throat? This is stuff we need to know.
That's not your sternum, your sternum is in the lower portion between your breasts, it sounds like Acid Reflux.

sis, sometimes I get a pain in my chest also. I am sure it is stress. this system can make you stressful. losing my husband three years ago and now taking care of my 28 year old daughter mentally handicapped and 25 year old son with a mild cp, this makes alot of stress. thanks to Jehovah we can talk to him. we where married 35 years. if it was not for Jehovah, I don't think we could make it.

It could be just stress. Asthma usually makes your breathing difficult, may be accompanied by cough. So relax, I f you still get a lot of pain go see a doc.
