most dogs make it to about 13 years some make it more some less

My oldest lived to be 14, but the average seemed to be 11-12 years. A friend of mine had one female Pit Bull, the grandmother of one of my dogs, that lived to be 16, disproving the Animal Extinctionists(my name for those who want to reduce domestic animal population growth to ZERO, effectively wiping out domesticated cats and dogs)claim that unspayed female dogs, especially those that have had litters, will inevitably live only a few years before succumbing to some gynecological malady.

My current Pit Bulls are 5 and 2, but I had one who got to 14.
