Occam's razor - . The principle states that the explanation of any phenomenon should make as few assumptions as possible, eliminating, or "shaving off," those that make no difference in the observable predictions of the explanatory hypothesis or theory.

or

"the simplest explanation is usually the right one"

So using this principle, did we come into existence from a magical being who was always there and used all his magical powers to create and destroy us and then do it again, and he controls everything.

or

Do we go through life and make our OWN decisions and did we come into being after billions of years of adaptation and evolution.

Occam's razor also shaves off the perjorative terms like "magical being," "magical powers," and so forth.

Occam's razor basically means stick to the facts, ma'am.

Occam’s Razor, incidentally, warns against the unnecessary multiplication of hypotheses in explaining an event.

"... the principle of parsimony, the contemporary application of Occam’s Razor, a law of logic developed by the 14th-century medieval scholastic William of Occam who said, “What can be explained with fewer assumptions is foolishly explained with more.”

The attempt is to remove God as an unnecessary "extra" in the movie of the creation and function of the world, when God is in fact the sole necessary element in creation and function of the world.

Who cares?

In my opinion, it is ridiculous to argue about how you got here. It is like tracing geneaology. Why is it necessary to know where we came from to the point of being oblivious to where the devil we are going?

The whole creation controversy is being fought by Conservative Christians for the pure reason that if the Biblical story of it, and there are two in the book of Genesis, is somehow proven wrong, then the whole Bible will be suspect. For those that have to have a literal interpretation, if they find something figurative, they will implode on themselves.

It's a bit more compicated than that. Occam's razor depends on necessity, that a theory must work and other things being equal.

The second one. The first one is based entirely off of assumptions while the later of the two is based off of simple observations.

But either explanation is the simplest.

God brought us into existance

OR

Biological and chemical properties brought us into existance

Well, OBVIOUSLY, the latter - NO unexplicable "magic", NO being more complex than anything ever known, NO need for infinite and impossible control, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc.
