If you are a Christian woman, there should be some degree of modesty, the same as if you are a Christian man. You would not want to cause another to stumble. What if you are a Christian woman, you're proud of your body, and wear a skimpy bikini to the beach. And a young Christian (young as in he just came to Christ) sees you and goes home and masturbates, thinking about you in that skimpy bikini. Have you caused him to sin?

When I was a young Christian, I used to masturbate to fantasies of women in bikinis all the time, but not so much now. I've found that using a 150,000 volt taser on my penis helps me to control those thoughts somewhat. Praise the Lord, I've been healed!

To a point. But the majority of the sin lies in the man for lusting after the woman in the bikini. No offense to any man out there but with some men you could be fully clothed in a bolt of material from head to foot and they would do the same.

I am not aware of causing any such problems for a brother. I dress in dresses and skirts at least 6 inches below my knees, no walking splits, tops no less than 2 inches below my collar bone and I do not wear bikinis or transparent clothing. Yes I believe we are not to be stumbling blocks to another. That is not true love.

Yes, I think so. Matthew 5:28 says "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." I would say that he was both looking and thinking about this woman lustfully...which is obvious. In a way, that person has committed adultery. We are counseled in the Bible to dress modestly and respectfully, and you shouldn't make yourself a stumbling block. Dressing in that bikini is immodest and that person is being a stumbling block. However, it would not be for me to judge that person. This issue should be between that person and God.

Double sin. The first is in having pride about a good body to the point that you actually parade it around nearly naked for others to see, and the second is in causing another to sin by lusting after you. Which was the desired reaction anyway--why else do it in public if you aren't seeking the attention?

Christian women (I believe) should not put the males around them in a position that they might lust or have impure thoughts - Most "skimpy bikinis" don't leave much to the imagination.
Now if they dress modestly and a man still lusts after them, they are not responsible for that lust. In this case, the responsibility for impure thoughts lies solely on the man.

You have asked a very thought provoking question and I hope people with actually think when they read this. How any person, male or female presents themselves affects the beholder. If one is immodest it can very well stimulate another to sin.

No. Not in my opinion. One can only control what oneself does and thinks. I can't MAKE you visualize me while you masterbate just like I can't make you masterbate. I think sin is just as much a choice as wearing underwear. It's not always the easiest thing but it's one thing that only you have control over. Not even God takes that freedom away from us...it's the freedom that he GAVE to us.
