Allot of parents have this idea that things when you were younger were allot better then actual. It has more to do with not remembering the bad things and focusing on the positive things. Your remembering of past and theirs will be way off. I know with my mother, the stuff she said to me as a child when angry with me she can not remember, I can not forget. neither of us is lying or fabricating events is it just that we remember things differently. If you were to ask you grandparents abut your parents childhood, I am sure that events wont match either. This is a cycle that no matter what will never change, since we are all individuals and we think and see and remember things differently. An example, a bank gets robbed there are 25 witness's to the robbery yet everyone has a different image of the actual robber. Very good question.

They may be better than you realize. Time will tell. Maybe they are focusing on what they do right. Maybe they have different criteria. A mom who was abused by her parents may think she is a good mom if she does not abuse her children.

No I did not get that impression--they taught me to be an honest, loving, caring, and forgiving person-and I passed that information to my children. Everyone is different.

Yes - there is a difference between fact and feeling...the difference being truth in events to-date.
