a Jewish feast celebrated fifty days after the Passover. Today a Christian Church celebrates Pentecost because it was the day the Holy Spirit came to dwell with Christ's followers. Read Acts 2. God Bless

A feast of the universal Church which commemorates the Descent of the Holy Ghost upon the Apostles, fifty days after the Resurrection of Christ, on the ancient Jewish festival called the "feast of weeks" or Pentecost (Exodus 34:22; Deuteronomy 16:10).

Acts 2:1-4 KJV:

"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

The seventh Sunday of Easter, commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles.. It is when Jesus after His resurrection and being on earth for 40 more days and just before His ascension into heaven,He breathed the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles.

Pentecost is the day that God officially replaced the old Law with the grace, truth, and mercy of the one, holy catholic and apostolic, new covenant church.

In Judaism, it was called Shavuot, & was when G-d gave the Law to Jews.
In Christianity, it is called Pentecost, is was when G-d gave the Spirit to Christians.
