I've had this cough that started a few weeks back from a local forest fire. I got prescribed some meds and an inhaler. The dr's here locally aren't too bright, but I'm going to go back and get a 2nd opinion this week.
My question is that do I have nemonia? I'm not sick in any other way, just a cough and I can hear the "liquid" sound in my breathing. My 2 year old has it also, so I'm a bit worried. We both just have a rough cough; no temperatures, no sneezing, no cold or flu symptoms.
Any medical proffesionals want to give an opinion?
Thanks!

I doubt you have pneumonia. Your persistent cough was most likely caused by the forest fire, and the only symptom of pneumonia you are having is the cough. You said you already saw a doctor, so I'd go with what he said. Just keep using the inhaler and medication until your cough goes away.

Is the inhaler helping at all? I'm sorry I know you have asked for medical professional advice only - I have spent a few years as a medical secretary (I'm not sure if that counts or not LOL)
If you are in any doubt do see someone else - do you have pain in the chest? Its possible you could have pneumonia but its too hard to say - you would need an Xray to confirm that diagnosis - go back to your Dr and ask for one of these for both you and your daughter - if you are not happy see if you can see another Dr or travel a little bit and find a Dr you are happy with and who is listening to you.

I am a little unclear as to the position of the pain or how long this has been going on, but if it is in the middle of your torso below the rib cage there are a few things it could be. First off I think it is great that you are going to a doctor in addition to doing some research yourself first, it will certainly help you get to the bottom of the issue. If it has only been a 1-3 days it could be gas. Gas pain is often underestimated and can become quite severe. Medicine for heartburn does not solve this problem, and is one of the most common misconceptions in the gastrointestinal area. To get rid of gas you need something that contains simethicone (see package for dosing instructions) over the counter. It is fairly cheap and some products for heartburn do contain it. If this has been a problem for more than three days It may be a pyloric ulcer or esophagitis based on the approximate location of pain. This should be checked out and not treated with over the counter medications initially. If there is any blood in your stool (poop)( it will be much darker in color and a tarry texture or appearance) this may be the cause of your pain. There are obviously many things it could be, some a lot more serious some not as much, but going to the doctor will be a great step in finding out what the problem is. You should call him immediately though and describe in detail what is going on, he may want you to go to the ER tonight. Stomach pain and esophagial disturbances oddly enough can be related to heart (cardiac) issues. p.s. Taking a lot of Advil can cause increased acidity and irritation in the stomach and GI tract. You may want to consider other measures to relive the pain as the Advil may worsen the symptoms. Consult your physician (disclaimer)

It sounds more like bronchitis than pneumonia. But since you're getting second opinions online, by all means go for a third opinion in person, because that's really the only way to tell.

Not a medical professional as in physician---but it sounds as though you COULD have walking pneumonia or Bronchitis--which I've had once---thought I was going to DIE. This can be especially bad for baby!!!! Do you have access to steam???? Create steam via shower or towel over head over sink----Vic's... Its sounds like you have an irritation- allergy- injury.
Pneumonia is an infection and you don't have a temp.

...sounds like bronchitis, but keep in mind if left untreated it can develop into a secondary pneumonia, see a physician.
