My neighbour who is 77years old says he is going to bring his Phillipino girlfriend over to Australia to marry her.She is in her late 40s.I was led to believe this has been disallowed.Will he be able to go through with his plans ?or is he too old.?

The process is an arduous one. Your friend may marry his Australian and she may apply for citizenship, but it is not automatic. They must go through an interview process and prove that their relationship is legitimate. They can expect visits from the INS and lots and lots of paperwork.

I don't know about Australian law, but here in the US we can petition our govt. to allow our alien fiance(e) to obtain a visa so we can marry. The marriage must take place within 90 days of their arrival in the US.

I have a feeling this older gent is being taken advantage of by this woman. Hopefully he will get some sense and not let this happen. There are a lot of scams out there and she might be scamming him. http://www.romancescams.com
