Pit bulls don't really have locking jaws, it's a complete urban legend. They like any other animal can have strong jaws that enable them to hold on to things, but a locking jaw no.
The disease Tetanus is something completely different, but it does in fact make it painful to the point you can't open your jaw. Horses get it pretty easy, and you can get it from rusty metal, but they have a vaccination for it now.

Your friend is correct. Lockjaw is a disease related to tetanus. Locking Jaw is what a pit bull does (which is why they are so dangerous).

the disease is tetanus. You can get it from working in the yard or stepping on a rusty nail. that is why you get a tetanus shot from the doctor.

actually your both correct but the scientific meaning of lock jaw is caused by tetenus but dogs do lock their jaws when they bite
