Jesus is the "Vine" and Christians are the "branches"; without Him, Christians cannot do anything. Christ expects His followers to abide in Him and bear much "fruit" (e.g., love, joy, patience, self-control, etc.) and to introduce others to Him so that they may obtain eternal life.

God bless you for asking an easy question!

My pastor has been on Matthew 5 - the Beatitudes, which he still is. He was on Matt. 5:1-6,17,20,48; 6:32-33;7:24-27. He was talking about hungering and thristing for right-change. Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. "Blessed are those who hunger and thrist for righteousness, for they will be filled.
He also went and talked little about Genesis and a little about Isaiah 6. The seraphim took a coal and put it on Isaiah's lips and told him he wasn't guilty anymore.

I was channel surfing this Sunday morning and stopped long enough at religion channel to hear windy male speaker say something homily about Kings and a sheep herding.

I said something to the effect, 'How did George Washington go about addressing the differences between his king and
other Colonial Gentlemen like himself?'

Faith, Doubt, and Walking on Water. It was great!

It was Youth Takeover Day - so the youth group "kidnapped" our pastor and they led the entire service - from praise and worship to the sermon to the Benediction. They did an awesome job and it was a moving service.

It was about religious mysticism. People think that the famous religious visionaries were somehow not ordinary people, and that they were so far above everybody else. But extraordinary experiences can happen even to regular people, if we'd only fully open ourselves to God. We might be able to hear the voice of God if we'd just stop talking and start listening.

John 13:31-35 -- Jesus told the disciples to love one another just as He loves. We need to have Christ like love in our hearts -- the love that respects, the love that is honest, the love that forgives, the love that sacrifices for others. Christians have a special obligation to love each other and to love the world.

Today's sermon was about love. Jesus said, "As I have loved you, so you also should love one another." This is harder than it may seem as it is to be applied even to our enemies.

Every sermon should be "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ ,that He died and was raised from the dead and you WILL be saved."
After that ,have Bible study. Going thru the Bible verse by verse ,book by book and leave all the "sermonie" crap out.
